Miller Honored as Student of the Month

Haley Miller, a South Tech High School Health Sciences Program senior, was honored by the Sunset Hills Chamber of Commerce as September’s Student of the Month.

Sue Paul, Health Sciences instructor, nominated Haley for this honor. “She is highly motivated and intelligent and boasts an accumulative 4.093 GPA from Oakville and South Tech High Schools,” said Paul. Additionally, Haley has earned 8 hours of college-level Anatomy and Physiology credit from Missouri Baptist University through her South Tech program and has taken both AP European History and AP Language and Composition and is currently enrolled in AP Biology at Oakville. By graduation, she will have earned a Certified Nurse Assistant certification through the state of Missouri, a CPR certification from the American Heart Association, and Patient Care Technician certification. Haley plans to continue her medical studies at either University of Missouri -Kansas City or University of Missouri – Columbia.

Haley is also a gifted leader. She is an officer in the OHS drama troupe, a member of Thespian Honors Society, National Honors Society, Tri-M Music Honors Society, HOSA, and Vice-President of the Science National Honor Society. She sings in an all-women audition choir called the Chorale, sings in the Oakville choir, and serves as president of the Young Catholic Musicians group. Her talents earned her a gold medal in Missouri’s solo and ensemble competitions.

“Haley has been a pleasure to have in our Health Sciences program,” said Paul. “She said that it has given her a great opportunity and the competitive edge needed to help her in my future career,” she continued.
